Why did this need to be replaced??
We ordered and received a replacement Carafe for our NEW Cusinart coffee pot. THe carafe order was processed quickly and received in perfect condition in a very timely manner. The carafe was a perfect fit and priced fairly. The problem here is the Cusinart coffeemaker was recently purchased for our vacation home and we used it 5 times. We noticed leakage on the hot plate and upon inspection noticed that the carafe had several hairline cracks. The replacement carafe is fine but this never should have happened to a new coffee maker.
An excellent replacement
This carafe replaced my broken one perfectly. My Cuisinart coffee maker was bought at Sam's Cub and had a different model number, but this one worked fine. It is nice to use my coffee maker again, I was tired of instant...
Cuisinart carafe
We got the replacement carafe that we needed and it works well. Advice-don't let your 1 1/2 year old help wash it with a metal spatula and you shouldn't need a replacement.
I like it, but ...
I have had my Cuisinart coffeemaker for 3-4 years now, and I'm currently on my fifth (!!!) replacement carafe. The carafe is fine. Its handle is sturdy, the carafe has never dribbled, and can hold max capacity of 12 cups of coffee. I use it about twice a day.
My only complaint is that the glass wall of the carafe is thin. My first, second, and third carafes were chipped or broken by falls. However, this latest one was very flimsy: after many months of handwashing (I never put it in the dishwasher), I accidentally tapped the side of the carafe on the granite counter next to the sink, and it _shattered_ into many small pieces. My fifth carafe now is 5 months strong.
Yes, it's upsetting that the replacement carafes are so expensive. But the coffeemaker itself is excellent, and I won't change getting replacement carafes (unless there is a generic out there that's cheaper and sturdier). This makes me think of inkjet printers: they're so cheap, but the ink is so expensive. The Cuisinart coffeemaker is inexpensive and EXCELLENT, but unfortunately the carafes are expensive.
